Welcome! My name is Seth Whiteaker, and I'm currently an undergraduate studying ecological restoration and soil science at UC Davis. Much of my work to date has focused on carbon biogeochemistry, ranging in scale from microbes in agricultural fields to watersheds in the Arctic. Through my internship with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, I've also advanced Superfund site cleanup efforts by refining and updating the soil-to-groundwater pathway in the Soil Screening Guidance. Moving forward, I hope to continue untangling the relationship between soil carbon stabilization and pedogenesis, with a special focus on how we can leverage soil maps to predict carbon fractionation across landscapes.
